What makes San Juan Goldens different from other breeders? There is a lot that goes into raising healthy puppies. Most breeders charge $2,000 - $6,000 for a puppy. Most breeders also have 10 dogs or more. It is nearly impossible to give personal and caring attention to 10 dogs at a time. Can you imagine taking care of the physical and emotional needs of that many dogs at a time?! We limit our number of dogs so that they each get the individualized care that they need. We love each one of them as a member of our family. We breed DNA tested dogs so that no puppies will be affected by genetic conditions, but we try to do it at a much lower cost than other breeders so that Golden Retriever puppies can make it into more homes.
-
How do I know I am getting a healthy puppy? Most dogs are carriers of at least one genetic condition. However, being a carrier does not make the dog affected by that gene. All of our dams and sires are DNA tested through Embark Vet for over 200+ genetic diseases/conditions, including 10 breed relevant conditions. We do not breed dogs that will cause puppies to be affected by ANY genetic condition that is tested for. That means we will not breed two carriers and we will NOT breed an affected dog period. Using this strategy, any health conditions developed your dog will most likely be caused by lifestyle, nutrition, etc. Vaccinations: You can also expect your puppy to come dewormed and vaccinated. We deworm our puppies at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks before they go to your loving home. We will also give them their first round of vaccines. Nutrition: We feed our dogs and puppies quality food. We always feed our dogs with food that has meat as the first ingredient, and that is high in protein. Puppies are fed high quality food as well and are weaned gradually. We will give you a small bag of this puppy food with your puppy purchase.

How does picking a puppy work, and when can I choose and bring home my puppy?"Puppies are chosen in the order that they are reserved. For example, if you were the second person to pay a deposit to reserve a female puppy, you will have second choice of the females of that specific litter. You may choose your puppy starting at 4 weeks. This is when they have developed a bit of a personality. You can choose in person, over video call, or from pictures and videos that we send you. You may pick your puppy up when he/she is 8 weeks old either in Blanding or West Jordan, UT. We will keep your puppy longer if needed to accomodate you. However, it will be your responsibility to pick up the puppy from our location in Blanding, Utah, or to pay for any transportation expenses. You will also be charged an additional $10 per day for food and care costs after the 8 week scheduled pick up.
-
Do you have a waitlist, or can I reserve for future litters?"Yes! You may either get on a waitlist for future litters for free, or you may reserve a litter in advance at any time. A non-refundable $300 deposit will still be required to reserve a future puppy. You can choose which litter you would like to buy a puppy from. Once you pay the deposit it can be any of our future litters. You can wait until you find the perfect puppy for your family!

What comes with my puppy purchase?Your puppy will come dewormed and with his/her first round of vaccinations. We will also send you home with a small bag of puppy food, some puppy pads for your travel, a folder with information (vaccination record, AKC paperwork, and other helpful documents), and one of our favorite durable dog toys.

PricingIn order to reserve a puppy you must pay a $300 non-refundable deposit. This deposit will secure your place in line to pick a puppy. Total puppy prices vary. You may contact us for pricing or see our listed litters for their pricing. We're dedicated to raising healthy and affordable puppies so that more families can experience the joy and beauty of Golden Retrievers. For this purpose you can generally expect the total cost to be somewhere between $1,000 and $2,000. Because we want our puppies to be affordable and go to loving homes, all puppies will come with AKC limited registration. Full registration is not available.
-
What is the difference in Full and Limited AKC registration? The basic difference between an AKC limited registration and a full AKC registration is that full registration is for breeders. Dogs with full AKC registration can have puppies that are AKC registered. Dogs without full AKC registration can still be bred, and you have all of the rights to breed them, but if the dogs with limited registration are bred, then their puppies cannot be AKC registered. In order to avoid costly puppies and selling to other breeders we only offer AKC limited registration.
-
How do I pay my deposit or final purchase? We accept cash, Venmo, direct deposit (ACH transfer), and Paypal. Once you fill out the Puppy Purchase Form you will see each of those options. You can reach out to us if you have any questions.
-
Do you have spay/neuter contracts? No. Many breeders require your puppy to be spayed or neutered so that it cannot be bred. However, we do NOT require you to spay or neuter your puppy. We leave that decision completely up to you as the owner.
-
Do you have a health guarantee? We do extensive DNA testing on all of our dogs. This ensures healthy puppies that will not be affected by any genetic conditions/diseases. Because of this, if your puppy does develop a health condition it is most likely due to lifestyle or nutrition. Due to this extensive testing we are certain that you will be satisfied with the health of your puppy. We simply do not offer a health guarantee because if something happens it is probably not genetic, and there are many things that you, as the owner need to do to keep your dog healthy. We will give you a healthy puppy, but it is your job to keep it that way. We are happy to offer lifestyle or nutrition tips to keep your puppy healthy!
